Holbrook is a small town in Navajo County, Arizona. A massive meteorite explosion happened ove Holbrook on the 19th of July 1912. The weight of the meteorite was more than 420 pounds, and the explosion was followed by a shower of more than 16,000 pieces that fell in a broad area in and around the town. Since then, hundreds of people visit the town every year hoping that will find a tiny meteorite fragment. It is worth mentioning that Holbrook is built on the famous Route 66. It is an excellent place to stop by and rest for a couple of hours or even stay a couple of days. Some of the nearby attractions that we suggest you to visit include the Petrified Forest National Park and the Navajo Courthouse & Museum. If you are looking for good budget accommodation, then we recommend you to stay at the Wigwam Motel. There, you will have the rare opportunity to sleep in an Indian teepee.
