St Michaels, Arizona
St Michaels is a small community located in Apache County, Arizona. It is a chapter of the Navajo Nation built on the eastern ending of the Defiance Plateau and on the western end of the Black Creek Valley. The most significant attraction in this small town is the St. Michaels Historical Museum and Mission. It is actually a historical Indian mission church, built in 1902. Nowadays it functions as a museum where visitors can get a good idea of what were the conditions that were facing the early missionaries as well as interesting facts about the everyday lives of the Indians. It is certainly worth the visit, especially if you are visiting with family. If you are looking for budget accommodation in this area, Navajoland Inn & Suites is a very modest discount Motel, just 2.6 miles from the center of St Michaels. Its rooms and two-room suites maybe unfussy, but you will get all you need for a pleasant one or two day stay and at a very low price. All rooms include a mini-fridge and a microwave. Also, there is an indoor pool and a small gym.
