Coalinga, California
Coalinga acquired its name from the abbreviation of “Coaling Station A.” In 1888, the Southern Pacific Railroad Company has created the area as a coaling station to ensure that the trains work well. The city in Fresco County, although well-developed today, celebrates a weird festival – the Annual Horned Toad Festival. In 1983, Coalinga had to face a major disaster as the area was severely damaged by a 6.5 magnitude earthquake.
