Downey, California
Part of the Gateway Cities, Downey is situated in southeast Los Angeles County, California. It is where the Apollo program, also known as Project Apollo, was planned by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where they intricately carried out how the first human can land on the moon during the 1960s. It is also the home of the famous siblings Karen and Richard Carpenter.
