Manitou Springs, Colorado
Strategically positioned in the underskirts of Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs has been the quintessential vacationer town since the 1870s, when travelers found the healing waters the Ute Indians had been drinking for quite a long time. A large portion of the town’s mineral springs are still active today and the water is free. It’s an easy going sort of town with friendly folks and quite a few recreational spots, the most frequented being the Arcade Amusements. The downtown main street is lined with fun shops and a few top quality restaurants.
