Barnesville, Georgia
Barnesville is the county seat of Lamar County, Georgia and is located just 15 minutes off I-75. It is a small, but yet very lovely, historic town with many beautiful 18th century mansions. It is also known as the ‘Buggy Capital of the South.’ One of the most popular annual events in Barnesville is the Buggy Days Celebration that takes place every third week of September. Another annual festival that is worth visiting is the BBQ & Blues Festival that takes place every last weekend of April. BBQ competitions, food vendors, and live entertainment are only a few of the things that attract thousands of visitors every year. Overall, Barnesville is a perfect short-break destination for those looking for a relaxing escape and are fond of antique stores. If you are planning to stay for a couple of days and looking for good deals regarding budget accommodation, then the Double Tree Hotel (9.6 miles from the city’s center) seems like a good option since there aren’t many good discount hotels nearby. The rooms have comfy beds and the staff is very accommodating.
