Cedartown, Georgia
Cedartown is the county seat city of Polk County, Georgia. It has a very charming historic district with pretty well-maintained buildings that date back to the turn-of-the-century era (end of the 19th century). The city was named after the large red cedar forests that used to cover extensive areas along the county line. One of the major natural attractions is the Big Spring, a beautiful limestone spring that is also the largest of its kind in the South. For those who love walking and biking, Cedartown won’t disappoint them. The Silver Comet Trail offers some lovely views of the city. Don’t miss to make a stop at Cedartown Welcome Center. The most interesting thing about this Center is that you will find there, relics made by Cedartown’s most famous resident, Sterling Holloway. If this name doesn’t ring a bell to you, he is the voice behind the famous cartoon bear, Winnie the Pooh. If you are planning to stay in Cedartown and you are on a tight budget, then you should consider booking at nearby discount hotels, such as the Creekside Inn (7.9 miles) or Americas Best Value Inn – Rome (11.2 miles).
