Port Allen is a small, friendly community that plays a large role in the Baton Rouge area.The roots of Port Allen date back to 1809 and this settlement was named in 1878 after Confederate general Henry Watkins Allen, 17th Governor of Louisiana. Port of Greater Baton Rouge situated at the convergence of the Mississippi River and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway,is one of the 10 busiest ports in the country.
