Port Tobacco, MD, is a historic seaport village that has housed Native Americans, missionaries, colonists, revolutionaries, farmers and many more different groups. Call in at the Thomas Stone National Historic Site, former home to Thomas Stone, one of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence. Set on beautifully restored grounds, spend a day wondering around exploring and absorbing American history. If time allows, be sure to add Stagg Hall to your agenda. This gorgeous merchant house from the 18th century is a beautiful example of Colonial architecture.
