Alexandria is a city in the county seat of Douglas County, Minnesota. It is a famous tourist center with many lakes and resorts. Well known events include Grape Stomp hosted by the Carlos Creek Winery in September, Apple Fest in October, Douglas County Fair in August and Art in the Park in July. The annual Viking-land Band Festival is a very exciting occasion in Alexandria. The city has a unique museum that houses the Kensington Runestone which is thought to be an indication that Vikings visited the area in the 14th century. A 25 ft tall statue of a Viking stands outside the museum.
