Goliad, Texas
The quiet town of Goliad, TX, has a rich and interesting history. Amongst the oldest Main Street Cities in Texas, this little beauty will leave you completely satisfied. Tour the grounds and marvel in the majesty of the Presidio La Bahia, the only surviving example of Spanish Colonial mission/presidio in Texas and one of the very few in North America. Annually, there is a popular two-day reenactment onsite of the battle of Coleto Creek and the subsequent execution of Colonel James W. Fannin and his troops. The accompanying monument to Fannin and his men is close by and worth the detour.
